Jamie Davis
Aug. 17, 1995 - Aug 19, 1998 |
Jamie is the reason why T.H.A.N.K.S. Inc. exists today. Jamie was the cousin & God daughter to a fellow softball player on the Tailgaters Softball Team. While tailgating one night in 1997, it came out about Jamie being diagnosed with a Brain Tumor. The family had already been hit with the loss of Jamie's father, Jim, to cancer in January of 1995. Having Jamie diagnosed was a complete nightmare for the family. The Tailgaters wanted to do something to help this single mother of four children. They held a softball tournament in March of 1998, raising an unbelievable $8,000.00 for the family.

Unfortunately, Jamie passed away on August 19, 1998. The Tailgaters all felt helpless. Sitting around again a couple years later, the Tailgaters began talking about the softball tournament that was held, and how much it helped the family. We knew that there were other people in the community who could benefit from our help. After many hours of meetings, and lots of paperwork, a non-profit organization named T.H.A.N.K.S. Inc. was formed in December 2000. It is in Jamie's memory that we named our annual Winter Fest the "Jamie Davis Memorial Snowball Tournament and Winter Fest".
Although Jamie was only on this earth for a short three years, she was a remarkable little girl who touched more lives in her short stay with us then most people do in a lifetime. Jamie's Mom continues to be an active member of our organization, helping other families who are going through the struggle of having a child with a life-threatening illness.
