Troy Winkleman

Troy has Ewings Sarcoma Bone Cancer. His treatment plan includes having to have a hip replacement and partial bone removal of the femur. He will also endure 15 months of aggressive chemo. He currently receives treatments at Toledo Children's Hospital, and will have his surgeries at OSU.

Troy lives in LaSalle, and goes to Bedford Schools. He lives with his Mom (Lois), Dad (Tim), Older Sister (Heather), and is actually a triplet! (Tim JR. and Dallas) The family has had many hardships this past year including Dad only working for 3 months out of 2008. He is still on layoff from GM.

Update as of January 2010

We are happy to report that Troy is doing really good!!!! Troy had his first set of scans in October to make sure he is cancer free and everything came back CLEAN!!!! In addition to his scans coming back clean, his lab work has all been in the normal range!!! Troy is no longer using the wheel chair...he's walking on his own these days. He still has to go through therapy 3-times a week because his leg muscle is still very week, but he is getting stronger everyday!

Troy's mom - Lois, reports that Troy is eating like crazy these days and his hair is growing back. Troy is always smiling and happy and full of energy. He is taking golf lessons and hopes to pursue that as a sport in school. He still is the manager of his football team and the family is debating whether to let him play baseball when he is able. Troy was able to hunt this year and the family is trying to find him a left handed bow.

Troy has been averaging B's & C's in school which is remarkable considering he only attended school for 35-days last year because of his illness. He is a remarkable kid who is so energetic and full of life. We love his attitude and look forward to seeing him make a full recovery.
